Important information regarding World Book Day

Following feedback from parents and staff we have decided to take a different approach to World Book Day this year, on the 5th March 2020. Instead of the children dressing up as characters, which can be costly, the children will be asked to complete some homework projects based around the book of their choice. Further details on these projects will follow shortly, but I wanted to give you some advanced notice before purchasing or making any costumes.

Prompt collection

May we remind Parents/Carers that home time collection is at 3.00 pm for KS1 and 3.05 pm for KS2.  Please ensure you collect your children promptly at these times.  If this is likely to cause a problem you are welcome to contact KidZone, who look after children on site before and after school. Their numbers are: 01255 429029 or 07983 634 443. Please note that there will be a charge for this service.

Unsealed of Clacton

White Hall Academy and the Friends would like to thank Kayleigh and Zoe, from Unsealed in Clacton, for helping us with our recycling. Have you visited Unsealed in Clacton yet? They are helping the environment with their plastic free refill shop based at 2a the Grove. You just take you own containers along, fill up with what you need and pay. They have a wide variety of goods from sugar, cereals, herbs, shampoo, cleaning products, oils and vinegars and much more. Just buy what you need.

Parents, grandparents and carers if you could spare a few hours here or there to help sort the recycling in school ready to be sent off, the Friends would be very grateful. Thank you. Please email:

Advice on illnesses

The school are obliged to follow the guidance given by NHS England. If you would like advice relating to any childhood illness, please contact  Public Health East of England on 0300 303 8537.

To help you decide whether you should allow your child a day off when poorly, the NHS has produced guidance on common illnesses. This guidance is available via

This guidance underpins the Schools decision whether or not the reason provided for absence is to be authorised.

The message given is quite clear: Common or minor illnesses do not necessitate a day off school. Colds, coughs, sore throats and headaches are not acceptable reasons for your child’s absence from school. Absences for these reasons will not be authorised at White Hall Academy.

Please support us by ensuring your child attends school regularly.
