The curriculum is designed to be broad and balanced and to offer a wide range of engaging experiences.
English and Maths are taught daily using exciting stimuli and rich resources including practical apparatus and ICT. Reading is taught using phonics and guided reading and supported with an excellent range of reading scheme and “real book” resources.
Other subjects are mainly taught through themes such as The Animal Kingdom, The Romans and Our Coast. Each unit builds upon prior learning in skills and content. Many aspects of the curriculum are linked to the local environment to give a meaningful context for learning and a strong sense of pride in the locality. Children are taught PE twice a week and these sessions include games, gymnastics, dance, athletics and swimming. There is also a wide range of extra-curricular activities available including sports, crafts and choir.
Please note that units may be moved within the year or changed from time to time to respond to local or national initiatives or events.
